Family Actitivities and Things to do with Kids

Galway Atlantiquaria

Galway is home to Ireland's National Aquarium, which houses the countries largest display of sea and fresh water life. You can see young and freshly hatched fish in the Aquaculture rearing centre and learn about the huge variety of life in the Estuary, Harbour, Lighthouse, Mill Pond along with many other exhibits. The star attraction within the aquarium is the 120 tonne Ocean Tank showcasing over 200 species including cod, pollack and small sharks. For hands on learning visit the Touch Pools for a unique chance to hold starfish, crabs or even sea scorpions! The building is located on the Seafront Promenade of Salthill, overlooking Galway Bay and is open daily from 10am till 5pm and closes at 6pm in Summer.

Leisureland, Salthill Galway

Leisureland is a wonderful leisure facility for all the family.  Inside there are 3 pools with the highlight for all being the Treasure Cove with pirate ship, water cannons, serpents and bubbly pool. There is also a 65m water slide and 25m swimming pool. Outside there is crazy golf and during the summer months a wide variety of amusement rides.

Monkey Business Indoor Play Centre

Monkey Business is a children's play centre in Knocknacarra (behind B&Q). It has lots of slides, climbing frames, ball pools, bouncy castles, a painting corner, baby / toddler area and café area for parents. The ideal place when the weather is not the best.

Leisure World Activity Centre

Leisure World Galway is the ultimate family fun recreation centre with something for everyone. They have kids activities suitable for everyone from the kids soft play area to 10 pin bowling. It also has cosmic glow in the dark balls, lanes and pins. Each lane is completed with bowling bumpers and light bowling balls to ensure that even the youngest children get the most enjoyment from their bowling experience. Bowling not suitable for Kids under 6 years of age.

Loughwell Farm Park

Loughwell Farm Park is located in Moycullen, about 8km from Galway City and is the ideal place for a day out for kids. There is a host of animals to pet such as pigs, ponies, cows, sheep, alpacas, goats, chickens, donkeys, rabbits, reindeer and much more. There are also lots of activities such as a playbarn with bouncy castles, bouncy slide, obstacle course, timber play villages, sand dunes with slides and play diggers, sand pit with play boat, toddler swings, zip wire, pedal go karts and much more.

Bridgets Garden

Bridget's Gardens is a wonderful escape from the hustle and bustle of the city centre. It is located off the main Galway – Clifden road (N59) about 20kms from Galway City. This is a Celtic garden that is themed on Celtic seasonal festivities with 11 acres of native woodland and wildflower meadows. There is a nature trail, ogham tree, children’s discovery trail, living willow play area and an ancient ring fort which all the family can enjoy. There is also a café and lots of events and other activities on offer.
