Galway Bay Run

The Galway Bay Half Marathon & 10K race includes a half marathon (13.1 miles) and also a 10k run/walk in aid of Cancer Care West along a fast, flat, fun and scenic route starting and finishing along Galway’s famous coast line on the edge of the city and the Bay.


Ballinasloe October Fair & Festival

Ballinasloe Horse Fair is held annually in Ballinasloe, the second largest town in County Galway, in the western part of Ireland. It is one of Europe’s oldest and largest Horse Fairs, dating back to the 18th century. This annual event attracts up to 80,000 visitors from all over the world, with many returning to the town year after year. This festival is one of the most important social and economic events in the life of the town. The town is also renowned for horse and pony riding, show jumping and other equestrian activities which take place throughout the year.

Vodafone Comedy Festival

The Galway Comedy Festival under the new name 'Vodafone Comedy Carnival Galway' has grown since its beginning in 2005 to become a major event on the comedy circuit in Ireland, regularly attracting big international names to the city for week leading up to and including the October Bank Holiday weekend. With several shows each day and night, with comedy show for children too, you are garaunteed to see well known comidians both Irish and international –and a decent number of ‘faces from the telly’ there.

Carnevil is the west of Ireland’s first scare attraction, housed in the haunted former Connacht Tribune printing press on Market Street. Carnevil begins on Wednesday October 12th and will end at midnight on Halloween night. The opening times are 7pm to 10pm (October 12-16, 20-21); 6pm to 10pm (October 22-27); 4pm to 11pm (October 28-31). The event is strictly over 16s.

Galway Aboo Halloween Festival

Something spooktacular is taking place in Galway’s Latin Quarter this Halloween Weekend. On Saturday and Sunday of the October bank holiday weekend, the city’s medieval streets will host the country’s biggest Halloween Festival with many fun and free events planned for the weekend with high-spirits guaranteed. The highlight of the festival is expected to be the fiendishly creative Macnas Halloween Parade that will wind its way through Galway city centre on Sunday 30th October 2016 from approximately 5pm and spectators are encouraged to dress up too!
